Birthday Owls

Sometimes I just want a small little something to add to a gift.  This week I needed two small little somethings to add to a cheque for my niece's 21st birthday and to flowers for my aunt's 75th birthday.  Using this post on juicy bits which I came across on Pinterest, I managed to create two small little somethings!  The second one still needs it's metal key ring before it travels to Sussex, and the first one has already been posted to Devon.  I can see a few more of these being created in the not too distant future here!

Once again, totally inspired by this post.

Belt purse

When Pinky saw me making the camera case she wanted to make something too, and quickly settled upon a Roman style belt purse.  She is very into The Roman Mysteries series at the moment - hence the RM on either side of the button!  This was her first attempt at blanket stitch.  It's probably the best thing she's ever made.

King and Queen costumes

About 4 years ago my niece gave Pinky and Perky some old skirts she had grown out of to use for fancy dress.  They were too big as they were so I decided to adapt them a bit and with a few bits and pieces made some King and Queen cloaks.  I also wanted to make some 'one size fits all kids' crowns so came up with this idea which has worked brilliantly and the crowns still fit all these years later - so do the cloaks actually!  Hopefully the pictures explain how the crowns work - the velcro strip on the outside is at the opposite end to the velcro strip on the inside.

Dolls' house rugs

A couple of years ago we did some weaving as part of our handicrafts.  These are the dolls' house rugs Pinky and Perky produced aged about 4 and 6 at the time.

Mobile phone case

This was one of my first customised guerilla crafts, made in the winter of 2010.  At the time I was using a large black bag with black lining and trying to find my black phone in it was becoming increasingly difficult! I wanted something that was a lighter colour and also that had a very specific feel so that I could easily stick my hand into the depths and find it!

Camera case

I have just joined Pinterest and was really inspired by a pin taken from this website.  I have been needing a camera case for a while but couldn't find one that met all of my needs - I've no idea why I didn't think of making my own - too caught up in consumerism probably!  Anyway, here's my effort.  It does what I want it to do and doesn't look too bad.  I don't think I've done blanket stitch since I was at primary school so had to follow this video on youtube to get going!
