New peg bag.

The old one really was on its last legs,

so, with a little help from this book

and the benefit of not being a perfectionist we have a nice replacement made from remaining fabric left over from the cot bumpers I made around 8 years ago and a padded hanger which was a present when Pinky was born a similar amount of time ago.  Just a little way to cheer up hanging out the laundry :-)

More creative than craft really!

Inspired by this post on Bits of Everything which I found through Pinterest Pinky, Perky and I set about making a special Father's Day present last week ...

Hoping for warmer weather!

About 6 weeks ago Perky and I went fabric shopping for Circle Skirt material but then the weather turned so bad that there didn't seem any point in making the skirts.  Well, earlier this week I decided that I was going to make them despite the downpours and lo and behold we've had a couple of warm dry days and the skirts have been worn!
I found the pattern through Pinterest which is somewhere I'm getting more and more inspiration.
I don't use my sewing machine much and consider myself a novice - I spent as much time checking the manual as actually sewing.  These are the most advanced things I have made with the machine!

Rainy afternoon activities

There have been a lot of rainy afternoons lately, but they don't have to be dull and boring when there are craft kits and ideas to be worked on!  Pinky bought a shadow box dolphin kit with some birthday money probably around a year ago and we finally got round to doing it at the weekend!  It was great to see her really apply herself, try to get it as good as she possibly could and then afterwards to hear her say that it was the best thing she had ever made herself, it looked like it came from a shop and she finally had something she was proud of!

Perky has been asking for ages if I will help her make a suitcase ... so a few weeks ago I squirrelled away a suitable shoe box with a hinged lid and whilst Pinky was happily painting and gluing I was able to help Perky create this:

I think she still wants to add stickers to the outside so it may not be complete yet!

Jubilee Costumes

For the Queen's Diamond Jubilee our village, like many others, held a Street Party.  Part of the festivities was a Kings and Queens parade for the children.  Typically, Pinky and Perky took this as a very broad remit, with Pinky going as King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) and Perky going as a corgi.  King Richard was relatively easy to create, if a little time consuming!  A corgi was a bit more of a challenge, but I was helped by the fact that Perky's reindeer head from about 3 years ago still fitted so after staring at pictures of corgis for a very long time, I finally managed to adapt a reindeer to a corgi!
