Facebook Pay It Forward # 3

In quick succession from number 2 this one is now ready to go!  I was inspired by a post on Pinterest but the link is now broken.  I used a pattern for the birds from a book called Sew by Cath Kidston.  This gift is going to a lady with a husband, 2 daughters and a son - can you spot them all?

Facebook Pay It Forward # 2

At the beginning of the year I offered to make a home-made gift for the first 5 friends to comment on my facebook account - they in turn each had to offer to make something for 5 people and so on.  Well, number 1 was completed some time ago and I've just finished number 2 (hooray!) and here it is:

Number 3 is not far behind but no sign of numbers 4 and 5 yet!  The pattern for this cross stitch can be found here - US$8.00 at the time of writing this.

Please pick a colour ...

My Social Knitwork Scarf is progressing well - half way there now! - but it hasn't been very sociable and I have taken to throwing a dice so as not to bother my social network friends too much!  However, I think it might be okay to start bothering those friends again, so please would you pick a colour for me to knit next (red, green, brown, blue, pink or purple) and if you have a reason for that colour, please share it!

Probably the last Little Bunny in a Tin for a while!

This one will be posted off next week.  The recipient's sister already has one, so I made the legs white so they don't get muddled up!  More Little Bunnies in Tins can be found here and here and a Little Cat in a Tin can be found here!

Octonaut Extravaganza!

Last winter I created an Octonaut play set for Pinky's birthday.  It included a large fleece circle which acts as a bag and a play mat (please excuse the dog hair etc that has gotten all over it since it was made over 6 months ago!):

and inside :

there is an unravelled, washed, old body puff for waves:

a piece of net curtain for ice or foam:

some old bath sea creature bath toys:

a piece of underwater-scene which was going cheaply at the fabric shop,

and a strange looking object kind of dressed up as a sweet!

When you unwrap the 'sweet' you discover the Octonauts!:

Each one is held in by a loop of elastic:

And here are the Octonauts themselves, front and back with extra pictures of removable accessories:

Cat in a tin

And as a variation to the Bunnies in tins, here is a cat (kind of!) in a tin.  I think if I make another cat I will change the ears to make it a bit more cat-like!

Remote controls finally under control!

This is such a little thing I don't even think I'd call it craft, but covering a shoebox has brought a little more order to our would-be-chaotic home!

Cross Stitch Bonanza!

I have had quite a run of cross stitching lately.  Whilst searching for patterns on the internet a while back I came across Joyful Expressions and bought a few patterns quite inexpensively.  The first one I ordered all the suggested threads, the second one I mixed and matched by adapting threads and fabric I already had and ordering those suggested and the third one I adapted to fit fabric and threads I had entirely.  They were all gifts for others and have been given away already!

Facebook Pay It Forward # 1

On Facebook a while ago I agreed to receive one hand-made gift from a friend if I sent hand-made gifts to 5 other friends during 2013.  Well, 5 months into 2013 and I've managed to get one sent off!  Here it is:

The friend who received this gift spends part of her year in England and part of her year in Catalonia so I made her two bookmarks saying the same thing - one in English and one in Catalan (not Spanish!).  I found the pattern on Pinterest which linked me through to www.craftsy.com where you will find the pattern under Embroidery, Patterns.  I developed the Catalan version from the English one.
The bookmark fabric came from sewandso  and I think it was the second from the bottom on this page!
